Forward bends - The Yogic or subtle physiology

  • The forward bending is quietening closing the chakras of from looking in the future
  • For some they may find that the forward motions difficult due to the back chakras of the past are exposed
  • Can be interpreted as humbling as bowing, thus some strong people may have difficulties in doing this
  • Cooling pose, so engaging Ida rather than Pingala.
  • Quietening of the lower chakras, as its almost like an energy lock and then coming out of the psoas then is like a flooding healing
  • Pratayhaya a closing of stimuli
  • Support the third eye
  • Allows the opportunity to look inwards and explore the self
