About Rod
Rod Hutchings was first introduced to yoga in 1980s, but began more regular study in 1998. A former rugby league player and downhill mountain bike rider, Rod began studying yoga in earnest when he found that yoga provided long-term relief from the injuries and chronic wrist problems he was experiencing. Upon discovering Sakshin Ghatastha Yoga style of yoga, Rod committed himself to a month of traditional daily practice, as an experiment. That experiment is still ongoing 4 years later. Rod has had the good fortune to study with a number of teachers whose influence has been profound, including Prahlad, Shandor Remete, Andrew Mournehis, and Larry Schultz. It is to Prahlad, however, to whom he owes deep gratitude for helping cultivate freedom within the foundations of the system, and for opening the door to lightness within the intensity of Sakshin Ghatastha - vinyasa style of Yoga.
Rod completed his teacher training at the Australian Institute of Yoga Therapy (CAE) and is a member of the Yoga Teachers Association of Australia (YTAA).

About Sakshin Ghatastha (suk-shin ga-tush-ta) yoga
The Sakshin Ghatastha (suk-shin ga-tush-ta) yoga is a carefully prepared program of dynamic and fluid movements which balances all systems of the body to achieve deep physical and mental harmony. The Sakshin Ghatastha sequences are specifically designed to progressively lead the beginner from basic techniques through to advanced practice. The application of this method develops a sound understanding of yoga and emphasises grace, muscular discipline, respiratory regulation and mental stillness. Through this application, with focus on the individual's needs and correct techniques in breathing and posture, the Sakshin Ghatastha sequences promote overall health, strength and flexibility and stimulate awareness. This ancient system of yoga arouses the inner fire to cleanse and strengthen the body by synchronizing movement with the breath.
