General comments about sitting positions.
• Sitting- be present. Use props if sitting is difficult • Calm and breath • Sit tall, back straight, and relax your face
Basic sitting positions:
• Padmasana- lotus pose. Do not do if not ready, can hurt your knees and ankles. • Eraha padmasana- half lotus. Right foot first, heels on thighs • Sukasana- cross-legged basic for comfort, delight and joy. (Indian style) • Seedasana- right foot to left thigh/ left foot over right calf or vise versa
Sit tall, spine straight, base to head, extend the spine upwards, chest open, head reaches up to the sky, chin parallel to floor.
Sitting correctly improves: healthy pelvic, abs strong, lumbar strong, builds knees and ankles and hips. Helps blood circulation
Teaching notes: explain breating, relax the face, be present in the now, forget the outside world. Arms straight on your knee, elbows straight
Teaching Adjustments: as a teacher to correct sitting position go behind person put feet in a v position and gently pull back from shoulders to adjust back.
