Twisting asanas - Variations according to needs and major pre-cautions and/or contra indications
Pre Caution:
Watch for lifting of the thigh and or hips (ie uneven). atch for rounding of the back. Your aim is to bring the shoulders at right angles to the hips whilst extending the spine in most twists in order to open the spinal channel. Notiec what happens in the middle of the students body as they twist.Are they twisting from their torso, and waist.
Avoid:
Do not practice if you have a diagnosed disc disease in your lower back. If you are pregnant, then do not strongly contract your abdominal muscles as you twists( open twists) – allow the belly to remain soft; if you have hernia, a detached retina or glaucoma, or if you are menstruating.
• Pregnancy and menstruation should not practice twists, in someone choose to, it s/be an open twist. The idea is that the abdominal region needs to remain soft and open.
• Stiffness or problems (sciatica) in hips and lower back
• Ulcers and hernia issues may not want to practice this, could agro
• People with neck issues may need to be careful
• Abdominal surgery
• Knees, hip and ankle could have issues
• Asthmatics or anxiety due to the twisting restrictions
• Blood pressure high or low, the squeeze and release action restricts blood flow
• Headaches can be an issues
