Back bends - How it relates to other asana in the group

• Back bends work is a series of one leading to the next setu bandhasana before urdhva dhanurasana. Salabhasana before dhanurasana
• Matsyasana is a great counter pose for shoulder stand and best performed and practice before starting camel… as it supports the back, but helps to strengthen the neck.
• Kneeling reclining poses need to have the kneel aspect know and practice comfortably before reclining
• Bhujangasana shares the major characteristics of the backbends as a group.  Depending on the intensity and amount of spinal extension, it may be a gentle backbend, or a fairly intense one.  It involves less of a stretch of the hip flexors and quadriceps than dhanurasana, urdhva dhanurasana or ustrasana.
