Twisting asanas - Fundamental principles

• Ideal for spinal health
• Greater freedom and suppleness of the spine
• Realignment of the spine
• Promotes Flexible attitude or being able to reflect other peoples perspectives
• Cleansing
• Activate the central nervous system – Communication and provide a release for the spine.  The spinal cord which houses.  The spinal cord, which houses the central nervous system, is the extension of the brain which allows the mind to communicate with the body.  The greater the freedom and suppleness in the spine, the better the communication system and controlled vitality in the body.    Thus we can correct our position and know when and where adjustments need to made after twists


 

Twisting asanas

Postures:
• Kati Chakrasana   Waist rotating pose
• Parivritta Sukhasana   Twisting easy pose
• Pariviritti Marjariasana   Twisting cat, one arm up and then under
• Ardha Matsyendrasana  Half lord of the fishes
• Marichyasana 1&3   Sage twist (one leg straight foot be side not over leg)
• Pashasana 1    Noose Pose (swat twist)
• Jathara Parivritta   Abdominal Twist (torso on the floor)
• Bharadvajasana Spine Twist (Indian sage pose) ((seated to one side both feet beside hip)) …..bar ra jas ana
